It’ just who we are

Authentic North was founded as Arctic Survival Tours in 2023. Since then, our primary focus has been providing exciting and authentic activities for people visiting Tromso.

We originally aimed to offer adrenaline-filled activities like swimming in rescue suits, but soon shifted towards our unique and relaxing experience: Arctic Ocean Floating (floating in immersion rescue suits).

After a season with the Arctic Survival Tours name, we decided to change it to better reflect the variety of safe, enjoyable experiences we offer. Floating in the Arctic Ocean beneath the Northern Lights is an incredibly peaceful and memorable adventure, perfect for anyone looking to connect with nature in a truly unique way. You don’t need to be an adrenaline seeker to enjoy this tranquil Arctic experience.

Looking forward, we plan to expand our offerings to include authentic food experiences, wild cooking, dog sledding, unique accommodations, family-friendly activities, snorkeling, hiking, snowshoeing, and more. Our goal is to provide guests with genuine Norwegian experiences that feel unique, exciting, and truly memorable.

You can find our full list of public tours on our website. If you’re interested in a customized multi-day itinerary, just send us an email, and we’d be delighted to create a package filled with authentic Arctic adventures. The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are a breathtaking natural phenomenon. The vibrant green, pink, and purple lights dance across the Arctic sky, creating a magical experience for everyone lucky enough to witness it. This stunning display happens when particles from the sun interact with Earth’s magnetic field, resulting in a spectacle that’s both captivating and unforgettable. While we can’t promise you’ll see the Northern Lights while you’re floating, there’s always a good chance when you join us on one of our evening tours. Restrictions and Availability Please note that availability of activities at our Floating Camp may vary depending on weather, ice, and snow conditions. However, Arctic Floating is possible in almost all weather conditions. This experience is perfect for both adults and children, with a minimum height requirement of 130cm for floating in rescue suits. We can’t wait to share an Arctic adventure with you and see the smile on your face. Join us for some safe and unforgettable Arctic fun!
